Melbourne is the coastal capital of the southeastern Australian state of Victoria. Melbourne is home to many of Australia’s best-known landmarks, such as the Melbourne Cricket Ground, the National Gallery of Victoria and the World Heritage-listed Royal Exhibition Building. Noted for its cultural heritage, the city gave rise to Australian rules football, Australian impressionism and Australian cinema, and has more recently been recognized as a UNESCO City of Literature and a global centre for street art, live music and theatre. Conference Venue

Deakin Downtown is a premium corporate centre for Deakin University located on Level 12, Tower 2 of Collins Square in Melbourne’s Docklands. It acts as a hub for professional engagement, and is designed for conferences, seminars, and corporate events, located 350 meters from Southern Cross Station.

Conference Venue Map

Deakin Downtown is located on Level 12 of Tower 2 in Collins Square. Collins Square is within easy walking distance from Southern Cross Station, tram stops and cycle paths.

Public Transport

Collins Square is a five-minute walk from Melbourne’s Southern Cross Station where you can access up to 15 different train lines and connections to all V/Line services. Collins Square is also conveniently located directly opposite tram stop D15-Batman’s Hill/Collins Street.

To use trams, trains and buses in Melbourne, you’ll need a Myki card. Simply top it up at a shop or station, then touch on when boarding a tram or bus, or touch on and off at train station barriers. Visit the Public Transport Victoria (PTV) Myki site for more information.

Accommodation

There are many accommodation options in central Melbourne and the surrounding inner-city areas. We recommend choosing somewhere close to a major train or tram line that provides easy access to the Southern Cross Station precinct, as this is a key transport hub within the city. The conference venue at Deakin Downtown is conveniently located nearby and is easily reached via a very short walk.
